Dutch has two words for the. Most words take de. A smaller group takes het, and both het meisje and het huis sit in it. Learn every word together with its article, as one unit.

The Dutch g
In goed, morgen and slecht the g and ch are made in the back of the throat, close to clearing it gently. It is meant to sound rough. Dutch people will understand you long before it sounds perfect.
