Let's Go Dutch

Lesson 1 of 50 · A0 to A1 · Free

Meeting people and saying who you are

You do not need perfect Dutch to stop feeling like a stranger.

You arrive at a new apartment and meet three neighbours in one breath. One word lives two lives: morgen means morning and tomorrow.

The Dutch g

In goed, morgen and slecht the g and ch are made in the back of the throat, close to clearing it gently. It is meant to sound rough. Dutch people will understand you long before it sounds perfect.

  • I can name a man, a woman, a boy and a girl
  • I can greet someone in the morning and in the evening
