herfst: the full Dutch throat

One syllable, four consonants in a row: h-e-r-f-s-t. Start with hair, land on fst like a small sneeze. Say it five times and you have earned the hardest season. Bonus rule: all four seasons take de, and months stay lowercase, just like the days.

Four seasons before lunch

One July morning in the Netherlands does the work of a whole year. Read it once for the shape. Read it again out loud.

The interactive lesson plays every word, walks the story line by line, records your voice next to a native one, and remembers the ones you find hard. Lesson 1 needs no account.

  • I can name all twelve months, lowercase
  • I can say the four seasons, all with de
  • I can place anything voor, achter, naast, boven or beneden
  • I can say de herfst and survive
  • I can describe Dutch weather in one line

Fifty fifty. We build it. You show up.
