Every job word in this lesson takes de, with no exceptions to memorise. Food is less tidy, so learn each food word together with its article, as one unit.

You already speak some of this
dokter, agent, advocaat, directeur and student are close enough to English that you can guess them cold. And Dutch builds job words the way English does, with an -er on the end: bakker, slager, kapper, verkoper. Spot the pattern once and twenty words get cheaper.
