How this verb works

  • Regular verb. The stem is keur. The infinitive keuren has r before -en, which is not in 't kofschip (t, k, f, s, ch, p), so the past tense takes -de (keurde, keurden) and the participle ends in -d (goedgekeurd).
  • Separable verb. In a main clause the prefix goed goes to the end: ik keur goed. In a subordinate clause it stays attached: ... dat ik goedkeur, ... dat ik goedkeurde.
  • In the participle, ge goes between the two parts: goedgekeurd.
