How this verb works

  • Regular verb. The stem is druk. The infinitive drukken has k before -en, one of the sounds in 't kofschip (t, k, f, s, ch, p), so the past tense takes -te (drukte, drukten) and the participle ends in -t (ingedrukt).
  • Separable verb. In a main clause the prefix in goes to the end: ik druk in. In a subordinate clause it stays attached: ... dat ik indruk, ... dat ik indrukte.
  • In the participle, ge goes between the two parts: ingedrukt.
