How this verb works
- Regular verb. The stem is til. The infinitive tillen has l before -en, which is not in 't kofschip (t, k, f, s, ch, p), so the past tense takes -de (tilde, tilden) and the participle ends in -d (opgetild).
- Separable verb. In a main clause the prefix op goes to the end: ik til op. In a subordinate clause it stays attached: ... dat ik optil, ... dat ik optilde.
- In the participle, ge goes between the two parts: opgetild.
