How this verb works

  • Regular verb. The stem is vloei. The infinitive vloeien has i before -en, which is not in 't kofschip (t, k, f, s, ch, p), so the past tense takes -de (vloeide, vloeiden) and the participle ends in -d (gevloeid).
  • When jij comes after the verb, the -t drops: jij vloeit, but vloei jij?
  • Perfect tense with zijn: ik ben gevloeid, not ik heb gevloeid.
